On the injury front:
- Dion Phaneuf joined the Leafs for their road trip. Means that he will be in Pittsburgh tomorrow and that he's almost ready to join them.
- Patrick Kane sprained his knee and will be out three weeks. That really blows for the Hawks to have Hossa and Kane out.
- Joffrey Lupul has finally returned to the NHL from a million back surgeries. And he used this move in the shootout.
- Andy McDonald was kneed in the head during the Oilers/Blues game and now has an undisclosed injury.
- Evgeni Malkin suffered a knee injury and is day-to-day for the Penguins.
- Mikael Samuelsson is going to be out at least a month with a concussion.
- Ales Hemsky has a groin injury and will be out for an extended period of time. That blooooooows.
Other News:
- The HBO cameras are in the 'Burgh to film the Pens for the special.
- Dave Nonis had some strong words for the Toronto Maple Leafs, telling them that this is their team and they got to make the best of it or else.
- Bill Guerin officially retired as a Pittsburgh Penguin. Link.
- PK Subban was benched for poor and selfish play. Jacques Martin thinks that he will learn from it like Carey Price did.
- Tyler Seguin will not be playing for Canada in the World Juniors. They like him too much in Boston.

Christmas NHL Style
We received an email from Maddie that told us about her Christmas tradition:
Since the holidays are coming up, I thought I'd share with you ladies a cherished Canadian holiday tradition. In Canada, we celebrate by making our advent calendars NHL-themed. (See attached photo.)
Some things to note:
-This advent calendar actually has 32 days, one for each team in the league. So either I should have started on November 23, or I'm now counting down until 2011. Or until the Leafs reach the playoffs again.
-The chocolates do not have each team's logo on them (boo); instead, the logo is printed behind the chocolate and on the little window flap. Today was the Canucks.
-None of the logos printed on the front of the calendar line up with the windows on the calendar.
-There is a game on the back. It is composed of the 32 team logos in little cardboard squares, with a maze printed underneath them. The instructions are, verbatim: "Cut out your favorite team logo and find the way to the goal!
Hopefully you can run to your local drugstore and pick up one of these babies. However, the "Made in Canada" sticker is very prominent on the bottom right corner (the maple leaf), so maybe not.
We are so jealous and wish that we had one. But this got us thinking, what are some traditions that you guys follow that includes both the holiday spirit and hockey?
For example, we have a hockey card rip-down calendar. There are hockey cards posted to the wall for each day and we rip them off as a countdown to Christmas. (If our camera was working we would attach a picture.)
But what do you guys do? Send us pictures or comment here. It'll be fun to see some new traditions for the holidays.

Mancrush Of The Week: Jack Skille
Mr. Skille was nominated by Jennifer to be this week's Mancrush. She sent us a very eloquent email that convinced us to pick him.

Why He's A Mancrush
*he's a third line winger with a first liner's hunger, especially obvious when the first liners don't have it...probably because he had to fight for his spot for a long time and it shows
*in 24 games he has 10 points and 57 shots on goal--while people whose names you may recognize such as Toews and Kane have 19/75 and 22/78 respectively (if you needed more proof)
*is never afraid to power through whoever to the net, drop the gloves or deliver a finesse pass--and often all three within the same game
*brings the energy all day every day
*has massive lips therefore making it really easy to make out his chatter on the ice
*if given the chance could become the new partner in crime to Sharpie, refilling the 'buckets of charm' deficit left in Burish's absence (I'm dying for the two of them to get together so I can start calling them 'Mulder and Scully'...)
