Quarterfinals: Day Three

#1 Washington Capitals / #8 New York Rangers

Capitals lead series 2-0 after a 2-0 win

Neuvirth had the shutout with 22 saves and he was the hero that the Capitals needed. He out goaltended Henrik Lundqvist, or something like that.

Both Capitals goals were scored in the second period and that was all they needed against the offensively-challenged Rangers.

It's almost like beating your 3-year-old cousin at Monopoly.

But if you're Ovechkin you celebrate and throw a mansion in his face.

#4 Pittsburgh Penguins / #5 Tampa Bay Lightning

Series is tied 1-1 after a 5-1 win for the Lightning

It all started with Eric Brewer's goal like ten seconds into the game.

Shoulda pulled Fleury.

Craig Adams scored and it gave life to the Penguins.

But a miscue and a penalty called that should not have been and a goal for Martin St. Louis and that was the end of that.

Shoulda pulled Fleury [end sarcasm]

Onto Tampa.

#1 Vancouver Canucks / #8 Chicago Blackhawks

Canucks lead series 2-0 after a 4-3 win

Daniel Sedin had a huge night and the Canucks won in convincing fashion. We ain't throwing the towel in yet but it's close.

Ben Smith scored two goals for the Hawks and they came within one but just couldn't handle the truth.

It should be interesting to see what happens in the Madhouse on Madison.

#4 Anaheim Ducks / #5 Nashville Predators

Series tied 1-1 after a 5-3 win for the Predators

Back and forth, back and forth this game went.

One would score and then the other would.

But Anaheim got the win and in the end that is all that matters.

Two goals were from Bobby Ryan as was this Pronger-esque stomp on Jonathan Blum just so he could get to the puck.

Ooooh, we love you B-Ry but seriously? That's not cool.

And then B-Ry was suspended for two games.
